Interesting you took the post, which was meant as humourous by the way, as a disapproval of people being naked. I've re-read it and can't see where it disapproves of nudity... which would have been a surprise as i don't. I think a few assumptions have been made :)

On the other hand a couple having sex in the middle of a walkers' path and then being shocked when someone almost stumbles upon them is, let me say how to put this diplomatically, rather stupid and deserving of being mocked.

If you go walking in a hot country where public nudity is legal, surprisingly you will come across naked people.

I feel sorry for those who have such a mind body disconnect that they cannot even use proper words for body parts and call them "bits". Remember if God had intended us to be naked we would have been born that way.

That's fair enough - can't say I blame you - I would never have got rid of mine but my old dear threw them out during one of her periodic clear-outs when I returned home after uni. Still haven't forgiven her and that was 1997...

As a student you walk everywhere all the time and by the end of my first year I was fed up with the hassle and cost of buying new shoes so often.

So I went into Birmingham over the summer to look for a pair of boots that would do the job. £125 later I came out of Rackhams with my camels.

If I remember rightly my pair gave me blisters when I first bought them too but once they were broken in they were just great. They did me the rest of my time at uni without skipping a beat - and the more beat up they got the better they looked and felt.

Size 9 would be perfect for me so if you ever change your mind...

Hope this doesn't sound too weird but could you post/email me a few more pictures of them please; I've been looking for 'just the right pair' of boots to replace them for about ten years now and nothing I've been able to find matches up to them in my minds eye - and there are very few pictures of them on the net (it was how I found your blog) so having a few more pictures of them from various angles would really help...

Hiking is excellent on Tenerife all year round but if I was to pick my favourite month it would be September because the quality of light is often at its best and the weather is perfect - hot without being opressive. Other favourite months would be May/June because of the profusion of spring flowers in some parts.
Months i'd be wary about would be November and February which are the start and the end of the rainy season. Most times rainfall is short and sharp...but visitors might just be unlucky during these months.

After reading this info I searched through Google about Los Realejos and found great info. I think it is a great place to visit during Tenerife trip. I would like to say you thanks for sharing and we are really glad that we have found another attractive site.

Moreover, if anyone has any info about hotels and restaurants which are close to this site and have scenic views rooms and tables so please share with us.

Los Gigantes is a beautiful site and an ideal place for summer vacation trip. We have been there in last summer, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We did walk around entire day and saw lots of natural scenic views.

From the Vera de Erques side. I've been meaning to do the Las Fuentes walk for a long time, but there were so many great walks to get around first.

I'm finding this all over the place with the signs. There have been very few places where signposts have been company throughout the route...in fact I'm struggling to think of any - and I could name a couple which actually sent me in the wrong direction. It's as though they stick up a couple of posts and get bored.

La Gomera is similar to La Palma re info and decent signage, but they've been attracting German walkers for a long time and are a bit more tuned in to what visitors who are into walking expect.

Still, adds a bit of excitement:)

I couldn't agree more with you on this. The trekking over here is so underrated and totally forgotten by local authorities its hard to believe.

Tenerife so much to learn from their neighbor La Palma. Over there most trails a well marked with proper signs and distance info at every dubious intersection. On top of that all the popular ones have proper parking with info boards, mini maps available, fresh water taps along the routes etc.

We "discovered" this hidden valley 8 years ago and was even invited into the private home of the old Canarian that lives in the really curious house close to the abandoned village. His caves that he personally had carved out were amazing just next to the barranco.

Did you do the trek from Acojeja or Vera de Erques?
